Holli is an experienced child behavioral and parenting specialist and Director of Playful Nature Kids Counseling, LLC, whose mission is to effectively help children learn and heal in fun and creative ways – minimizing the anxiety, guilt and resistance many parents anticipate when considering therapy services for their children. At Playful Nature Kids Counseling LLC, children engage in their healing process amongst a variety of the highest quality, evidence-based play, sand tray, expressive arts and nature therapies in a comfortable, non-judgmental, kid-friendly environment. Parents can relax knowing their children are expressing feelings, resolving problems, improving behaviors and learning to cope effectively in fun, safe and personalized sessions they enjoy coming to! A compassionate listener and a client-centered, solution-focused therapist, Holli is passionate about helping families and provides a well-rounded, eclectic approach combining several, different therapy modalities in session to tailor a unique and personalized treatment plan which best supports each individual child. Holli’s Education/Experience:
Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, with perfect academic standing, from Nova Southeastern University, 2008

Clinical Internship at Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, counseling children and adolescents of sexual trauma using creative play therapy and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral techniques (TF-CBT); supported affected parents by providing individual psychotherapy, parent consulting, family therapy, psycho-educational information, positive coping strategies and resource services.

Several years of clinical service provided to at-risk children, teens and adults in several different agency, school and non-profit settings.

Thousands of hours provided to many community organizations with a child and mental health focus including Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Kids and Canines, Traverse Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Healing Hearts Therapies & Equine, Joshua House, Hillsborough County Public Schools and several other expressive arts, literacy, educational programs and non-profit organizations.

Holli’s Professional Certifications/Specialties:

Holli is often referred by well-respected area clinicians and professionals for her specialized play therapy services, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) meeting the elite professional and ethical standards of credentialed play therapy training and clinical experience required by the Association for Play Therapy (APT). Holli is also a Certified Sand Tray Specialist (C-STS) and the first Certified AutPlay Therapy Provider in Florida – a play therapy and behavioral therapy approach to working with children affected by Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder and other neuro-developmental disorders. Holli holds a certificate in Animal-Assisted Therapy from the University of New Hampshire, completed professional trainings in both canine-assisted play therapy and canine-assisted reading support, and is an honored recipient of an expertly-trained Canine Companions for Independence Facility Dog, named Luann, free of charge, which she integrates into client sessions as needed. Holli has also accumulated several hundred training hours in various stress relief, yoga, mindfulness and relaxation techniques for both adults and children, and continues to remain fresh and current in the industry by reviewing evidence-based, field research and regularly attending professional therapeutic trainings and national conferences.
